“I spent a semester in Brussels in Erasmus. I had already had a first experience in Cluj, Romania, which went very well. I was looking forward to a new adventure abroad.
I discovered Brussels other than by its status as a European capital. It is a capital but with a village spirit. There is always something going on there: aperitifs, festivals, exhibitions, sports events,… And as we are many foreigners living in Brussels. It is easy to meet people through work, university, sport and not only with foreigners but also with locals.
Belgians like to eat and good beer…. He offers hundreds of different beers! I found a roommate thanks to the Bed & Brussels team. We were 4 roommates (1 French, 1 Turkish, 1 Portuguese and 1 myself) in a great apartment with a single bedroom, 2 bathrooms, 1 large common kitchen. My roommates have become lifelong friends. Living in a community in a city you don’t know makes it easier for you to integrate.
We were in the town of Schaerbeek, north of Brussels, with a view of the Josaphat Park.
