Basilica of Koekelberg

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Koekelberg (colloquially known as the Basilica of Koekelberg), is a Catholic religious building located on the Koekelberg Plateau in Brussels (Belgium).

Conceived at the beginning of the 20th century as a national monument and, after the First World War, as a center of pilgrimage to the Sacred Heart, the “Art Deco” style basilica was not formally consecrated until October 13 and 14, 1951 . It is still the site of major national Catholic gatherings.
