“I have been in Brussels for a few weeks now as part of a VIE (international corporate volunteering) contract. I encourage all young graduates to take a V.I.E., because it helps to develop an open mind. The world is vast and rich! An experience abroad allows you to get out of your cocoon and to overcome the prejudices you may have about other cultures. Moreover, it is an incredible professional opportunity: with the V.I.E., young candidates for expatriation do not have to wait until they have grey hair to be given high responsibilities!

At the same time, I was very enthusiastic to embark on my first professional project abroad and a little stressed. My fears quickly subsided. I am not used to living in the city but Brussels is very green with its many parks I feel good. I have also chosen a home via the platform of

Bed& Brussels in the south of Brussels in a quiet and airy area. My studio has a view of the magnificent garden of my landlady Solange. And then Brussels, even if it is the European capital, it is a city on a human scale, I feel good there.

This contract abroad has allowed me to develop an open mind, to get out of my cocoon and to remove the prejudices that we may have about other cultures (even if it is a country neighbouring mine)”.

Choose Uccle if you like peace and quiet, nature. You will rather do sports, good restaurants and shopping rather than partying until the end of the night.
